Originally from Canterbury, Katie attended the Woodman School of Dancing. At the age of 10, she won the Le Hedan Trophy for Best Actress at the London Film Festival for the lead role in the Jan Mark’s adaptation – “Nothing To Be Afraid Of”. Katie then went on to work professionally playing the Title Role in the Musical Annie alongside Linda Baron at the Granville Theatre Ramsgate. This was followed by roles in The Wizard of Oz and

Katie then went on to work professionally playing the Title Role in the Musical Annie alongside Linda Baron at the Granville Theatre Ramsgate. This was followed by roles in The Wizard of Oz and The Worst Witch. Katie filmed two language series with Kent Educational Television.

Having enjoyed these opportunities as a young performer, Katie studied for 3 years at The Centre of Performing Arts where she gained her teaching qualifications with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing.

Katie has taught and choreographed for Pineapple Studios London, Danceworks London, The University College of London, Derek Hartley Productions, Maximum Dance Design, Stagecoach Theatre Arts, Newham Council.

Katie worked for the Deborah Day Theatre School Trust in East Ham for 13 years where she taught Tap, Ballet, Modern, Hip Hop, Drama, Singing and the Boys Only Program.

She wrote vocal compositions for the Jack Petchey Foundation Glee Project, where her choir of students made the finals at the Savoy Theatre with Graham Norton in 2012, and came second out of hundreds of entries at the O2 Indigo Theatre London in 2013, and took third place in 2014.

Katie teaches for Dance Warehouse Canterbury and Dance Warehouse Ashford teaching Hip Hop, Commercial, Street Jazz, Tap, Drama and Singing.

Katie reignited her passion for American Rhythm Tap when in 2013 she got the opportunity to study with the American Tap Master Heather Cornell, at her New York Intensive program.

This year Katie traveled to Sweden for the Stockholm Tap Festival, training with world class Tap dancers and teachers Sam Weber, Mark Mendonca, Jason Janas, Jason Samuels Smith, Joseph Wiggan.

Katie takes classes regularly with visiting Rhythm Tap teachers to the UK, such as Michelle Dorrance, Roxanne Butterfly and Andrew Nemr.

Katie and Kristen’s Pupils have performed in London’s West End’s – Billy Elliot, The Lion King, Evita, The Wizard of Oz, Into The Hoods ( Zoonation ), The Snowman ( Birmingham Rep ). BBC’s – Crimson Petal and the White, Simon Amstells’s – Grandma’s House, Jacqueline Wilson’s Dustbin Baby and Matthew Bourne’s ‘ Lord of the Flies ‘

Katie is looking forward to expanding opportunities for pupils at Chartham Theatre School.
